Minilik of Abyssinia managed to receive enormous military and technical support from the European powers in the late 19th century. The support he garnered eventually tipped the balance of power to his favor. After numerous defeats by the gallant Oromo fighters, with massive armament he secured, he eventually managed to capture the Oromo nation and other nations and nationalities in the southern part of what is today known as the Ethiopian Empire. In effect, Minilik conducted a war of extermination and genocide.
